    This has included: leading the 1996 UK Utility Industry Team of the Year at Thames Water and running an Abercynon-based SME, delivering innovation services, that was nominated for Wales Innovative Company of 2003.
    Phil has also led the Merthyr Tydfil College team that came runner-up in the innovation category of the 2006 National Fforwm Awards , runner-up in the category to ‘plug skills gaps in industry’ in the 2007 Awards and runner-up in the ‘effective partnership working’ category of the 2008 Awards. Phil was also a finalist in the 2008 Leading Wales Awards.
    Phil is an Assessor for the Wales Quality Award and De Bono trained Creative Thinking Facilitator with a passion for providing practical support. This passion extends to supporting the Ospreys, Reading and Chelsea!

  2. Jayne Davies

    Jayne became Director of CIOTEK in 2005 and has since obtained a number of contracts with the Welsh Assembly Government and Local Authorities. Jayne has been a Business Advisor with Venture Wales for nearly 4 years and has a great deal of experience in her role with CIOTEK - a small business management and marketing consultancy practice in Swansea. Jayne has a BSc in Economics, an MA in Marketing, a Professional Diploma in Marketing and will obtain Chartered status with the CIM in June 2010.

    She has worked closely with graduates and students in taking their ideas from concept stage to commercialization and engages closely with higher education establishments to deliver enterprise workshops and various seminars to develop the business management and marketing skills of young people. She is also a HRD Advisor with DCELLS and is qualified to deliver advice and support regarding Investors in People and the Leadership & Management Model. Jayne has been working with the HOVIP Team since November 2009 and is now working on her 6th PIA Project.

  3. Anne Derbyshire

    Anne has a history as a "hands on" business practitioner. For ten years she had a senior management position in sales and marketing with a blue chip company before setting up her own sales and marketing consultancy business. She is also closely involved with her family's local graphics design business which recently won the Rhondda Cynon Taff Business Club's "Excellence in Marketing" award for 2009 which was sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

    Anne understands the needs of SME business owners in a wide variety of industries, and is able to offer real practical help for people who are starting and growing their own businesses. She understand the financial restraints of setting up and running a business and as a business consultant, has helped over one hundred business owners and managers develop their own individual business plans and sales and marketing strategies.
    Anne also delivers consultancy and training in personal selling, key account management, telesales skills, telephone skills and customer service.

    Helen is the founder and managing director of H M Marketing Ltd, a South Wales-based marketing and communications consultancy and a partner with leading business management consultancy MA Consulting International.

  5. Janet Scicluna

    Janet, who in 2007 received The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion, has over 20 years experience of working within business support. She has held senior positions within enterprise support agencies and has worked across many industry sectors, with both new and existing businesses. As a business adviser/consultant/mentor and trainer Janet has also given time to many voluntary enterprise activities including Young Enterprise, Prince's Trust, Education Business Partnership and Graduate Enterprise.

She is able to draw extensively on her knowledge and experience providing her clients with opportunities to enjoy highly interactive and motivational mentoring, coaching and advisory sessions. Her clients are encouraged and empowered to develop both themselves and their businesses.
    Janet has an MBA from the University of Glamorgan and in 2006 Janet received the Institute of Business Advisors' UK Business Adviser of Year Award and in 2008 was named a SFEDI Enterprise Champion Enterprise Professional to add to her Queens Award.

    He is a registered business trainer with the Chartered Institute of Management and has particular strengths in manufacturing, technology and project management as well as strong international marketing and commercial skills from senior management positions at BOC, Days Healthcare, Rehau, Smiths Industries and Xerox. In addition Mike is a member of the Institute of Export.
    Mike runs a number of management workshops including the HOVIP taster session on Creativity and Innovation.

Heads of the Valleys Innovation Programme (HOVIP) aims to increase the capacity for innovation in businesses in the region. Phase 1 was KEF ESF Funded and hosted by Merthyr Tydfil College. HOVIP2 and HOVIP3 is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government HoV Regeneration initiative with the 5 HoV local authorities and is hosted by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
