"Joining the Innovation Programme is a massive eye opener, very creative and the content is outstanding. I don't think that there is an organisation that wouldn't benefit. A massive thumbs up!"

Coleg Morgannwg, HOVIP and the Welsh Assembly Government have gained the support of the Global Enterprise Manager for the EuroPen - Pen International Practice Firm initiative (cms.europen.info) to host a novel and enterprising event in Wales in 2012.
EUROPEN – PEN INTERNATIONAL is the worldwide practice firm network with over 7500 practice firms in 42 countries. A practice firm is a virtual company and a centre of vocational learning that runs like a "real" business silhouetting a "real" firm's business procedures, products and services. Each practice firm trades with other practice firms.
The proposed event will unusually link student run practice firms from the UK and around the world with pre-start-up businesses, from the Valleys, in a combined business exhibition. This will, therefore, involve virtual and real businesses providing multiple benefits to both.
The event will also include a heritage tour of the Valleys and related tourist attractions plus provision for a Europen members’ meeting and opportunities to meet key stakeholders in the region. For more information contact: Sara Billinghurst.

Students from Coleg Morgannwg, The College Ystrad Mynach, Merthyr Tydfil College and Coleg Gwent have been challenged to come up with ideas for the planned Rhymney Brewery visitor centre and how to market the facility. They will be presenting their ideas to four judges, including Nick Hewer (of the BBC's 'The Apprentice' fame), and invited guests. This is an innovative approach to supporting businesses and enabling students to develop enterprise skills based on real, regional business challenges. Download the event programme.
